Occasionally, you may have difficulties accessing Cobb Virtual Library or one of the resources from your computer. The information below will help you in solving many common problems. If this information does not resolve the issue, or if you have additional questions, please contact your library media specialist.
While at school, students and teachers should be able to access the Cobb Virtual Library page for their grade level (elementary, middle, or high) and all the resources listed there without using a password. If you are unable to access your grade level page or prompted for a password while on campus, contact your school library media specialist.
When using CVL off-campus, a username and password is required to access the grade level pages. Ask your school library media specialist for the password, or print out the password page while you are on campus. Simply open the CVL page for your grade level, then click on the "Passwords for Home Use" link at the top of the page.
If you are unable to access the CVL site or your grade level page from off campus, the site may be experiencing technical difficulties. When you return to school, check with your school library media specialist to confirm that your are using the correct site URL, username, and password.
Even if you are unable to access the CVL site, you may be able to access some of the resources directly through GALILEO. Go to GALILEO (http://www.galileo.usg.edu) and login using the GALILEO password. If you do not have the current GALILEO password for Cobb County Schools, you may also use the password for the Cobb County public library system to access some resources.
While at school, you should be able to access all CVL resources for your grade level without a password. If you are prompted for a password, , please notify your library media specialist. If you have difficulty accessing any of the resources for your grade level, please try the troubleshooting tips below. If these do not resolve the problem, notify your library media specialist.
When accessing CVL resources off campus, the resources provided by GALILEO require an additional password, even after logging in to CVL. This password is available from within CVL, even when you are off campus. Simply open the CVL page for your grade level, then click on the "Passwords for Home Use" link at the top of the page.
If you have trouble accessing individual databases while off campus, try the troubleshooting tips below. If these do not resolve the problem, notify your library media specialist when you return to school.
Library media specialists, teachers, and students have the option to create direct hyperlinks, shortcuts, and favorites/bookmarks to CVL resources. These links will work both on campus and off, but users will be prompted for the CVL username and password when using them off campus.
